Chapter 2.4: Up and Down the Staircase

Last time: The founder, Celeste died and Ruby's collage hook-up Kyle past away.  Jacob, an old friend of Kyle's from collage comes to town to tell Ruby and they fall for each other.

 Things between Ruby and Jacob were blossoming so quickly.  He was soon living with Ruby and her father and brother.

Trouble was that Jacob and Brand didn't get along with them both coming from opposite social groups, Brand with the Nerds and Jacob with the Jocks.

Seth was not very fond of Jacob either, as he believed that Ruby should be focusing more on her family now that her mother had passed.  Ruby said that Jacob is part of her family--this made Seth realized that Ruby was serious about him.

Ruby and Jacob had been talking a lot lately about there ambitions and goals they would like to achieve in the future.  Jacob expressed how he wanted to be Mayor someday.

Ruby said that she would follow him all over the world if she had to to be with him.  Jacob liked the sound of that.

Soon enough Jacob was being promoted regularly as his determination and practice was really paying off.

Today Jacob was not just practicing his speech on the Town Center for next week, he was practicing to ask Ruby something that very night.

 Jacob was a romantic and giving Ruby gifts was a regular kind of thing but today Ruby had noticed something different in the was Jacob was acting.

He was smiling more, always wanting to hold Ruby's hands and telling her how much she means to him.

Suddenly, he got down on one knee and all of his odd behavior today finally made sense to Ruby.  He was going to ask her to marry him

Ruby said yes and put the beautiful diamond ring on her finger straight away.  Over the past year and after all of the death in her life everything was finally falling into place for Ruby.  He was engaged to be married, she had finally got a job at the local primary school and her fiance was a department head at Town Hall.

Brand finally turned into an adult and moved out straight away.  Went off to computer school somewhere over in Sim City.

 He had finally grew up into the Good and Friendly guy everyone knew he had in him.

Ruby and Jacob were swiftly planning ahead there lives together.

That when Jacob broke the news to Ruby.  He told her they needed to move to (insert town name here) as he got promoted once again and they have relocated him.

Ruby wanted to know why he hadn't told her sooner as she had only just landed the teaching job her in town herself.  But she said to him if this is what he wants she will go with him.  She knew what she was getting into when they got involved together.

Jacob was ecstatic and excited that Ruby had agreed to the move.

But soon enough another event changed Ruby's life her father, Seth, had a heart attacked while he was listening to her play the keyboard.

Jacob heard Ruby's screams and sobs and came to her aid straight away.

 Little did they know that Seth had not gone far.

He saw Jacob consoling his little girl, telling her that everything will be okay.  It was then that Seth knew that Ruby would be in good hands for the rest of her life with his man.  Seeing his allowed Seth to finally rest in piece, meeting up with his love Celeste.

 Just when everything seemed to calm down in the household a burglar broke in in the early hours of the night.

 Jacob saw the intruder and called the police promptly.

The cops arrived but the burglar was too over powering.

That's when Jacob had to take things into his own hands and started to fight the burglar...

And was victorious.  The burglar went to jail and Jacob was a local hero in town.

He was featured on the front cover of the local newspaper.

A few months had past and Jacob and Ruby were getting everything prepared for the big move.  The only thing is they didn't have a house.  That's were Ruby's best friend Norma comes in.

 They hadn't seen each other face-to-face in a while and Ruby had to break the news of her father dying to her.  Norma in turn updated Ruby with her life and how she had just brought a new house.

It was a perfect segway for Ruby to ask Norma if her and Jacob could live with her in (insert town name here) until they found a house of their own.

Norma at first sounded pretty hesitant saying she usually is in-and-out of the house a lot and having people over.  But then she came around and said yes as Ruby was her best friend and she would do anything to help her.

 Ruby was so happy that she had such a good friend in Norma.

While Ruby and Norma go way back her and Jacob didn't really know each other.  He asked her about her cooking ambition...

and her in turn his political ones.

 As it was nearly time to leave Ruby's childhood home her and Norma did a streak (like they used to in collage) for memories sake.

Chapter 2.3: Death Race

Last time:  Ruby completed her degree, made a best-friend (Norma) and whoohooed with her crush, Kyle.

Ruby had finally returned to her home in Starlight Shores after her adventure at university.  Ruby was lucky to have experienced many of life's first at university and she will never forget them.  

Mainly the boy who will forever be in her heart: Kyle.

She had not seen her father Seth in ages and could not wait to explain to him what uni life was like, not to mention the new degree she obtained.  

There was one major change at home that she noticed.

Willow had moved out.  She was now a young adult and decided to leave home while Ruby was away.  She decided to move to the even bigger city--Sim City to try and make it as an actress as she was such a Diva.

 Brand also had grown into a teen.  He was a bit of a loner at school and because of this he drowned himself into video games.

Celeste--Ruby's mother--also reached the top of her architectural designer career while she was gone and obtained the key to the city from the Mayor.  She also completed her life time want of becoming a Illustrious Author.

Seeing her mother succeed made Ruby finalized her new life's ambition as being a Jack of All Trades.

Now that they had both completed what they had wanted in life both Seth and Celeste retired and found other things in life to share together, such as video games.  They were very competitive, but Celeste normally won.

While she had not found a job yet Ruby had tones of spare time to do things.  She competed in the pie eating contest at the annual fall fair.  She ended up winning.

She also spent a large amount of time designing and setting up her room.  She hung up all her prizes and photos of her best friend Norma--who she missed everyday.

One day Ruby was laying on the spare bed reading a horror classic when the door bell rang.

There was a man out the front, he was familiar but Ruby could not place him.

 Ruby greeted the man who told her his name was Jacob, he went to university with her.

Ruby instantly remembered him, not from his good looks but as he was one of Kyle's frat house room mates.

 After some small talk and some catching up, and Ruby also casually asking Jacob if he was married. Ruby asked him finally why he was here.

 Jacob said it had to do with Kyle and how much she meant to him.  Jacob continued to be cryptic.

Ruby was tired of Jacob beating around the bush, she invited him inside and told him to tell her what he had come here to tell her.

And that's when he said it.  Kyle had died.

 
Ruby ran up the stairs she could not believe what she was hearing.  She insisted Jacob tell her why he came all the way to Starlight Shore to tell her this.  Jacob said that Kyle had not stopped talking about her and said that he would one day ask her on a proper date.  This crushed Ruby.  She had never felt so much pain in her life.

Ruby fell into Jacobs arms and cried her heart out.  Jacob tried to comfort her and stay as strong as he could but he also was feeling deeply upset and shed a tear as well.

For the rest of the night Jacob stayed by Ruby and comforted her.  They talked about everything throughout the night and released how much they had in common. Even though the news was heartbreaking to Ruby having Jacob around made it better.  He was such as nice guy to do this, even when he didn't have to.

 After the shocking breakthrough of events Ruby needed her best friend Norma.

But little did Ruby know that things were about to get worse.

 Celeste, after having a fantastic 92-year run had died in the living room playing a video game (which she lived)

 Death and finally come for the founder of the Silverset legacy.

Ruby felt so many emotions after the mothers death, and took it as best as she could.  She wondered when something good would happen to her.

Seth was distort and Brand comforted him at the funeral.

Surprisingly, a few days later Jacob visited Ruby and brought her a bunch of flowers, as he had heard about the passing of her mother. 

Little did Ruby know that this was the start of something new and the good thing she had been waiting for was about to happen.

 Jacob and Ruby started to hangout all the time.  They enjoyed dinners...

 ...went ice skating and danced on the ice...

 ...brought each other presents and...

...Jacob even he Ruby sketch him naked!

Ruby was happy, not only because she had a new model but because Jacob had a good body.

It was one day while the two were watching a rom-com that Ruby finally made a move and put her arm around him.

Jacob took this as a sign and gave Ruby a kiss.

The two where then and there officially a couple.

Next time:  How will Ruby and Jacobs relationship continue?  Will Ruby finally find a job/career?  Is Seth on his last legs know that his wife had passed?
